Testimonials

In business since 2003 we have a wealth of testimonials from satisfied customers. Many are appreciative of the fact that we handled the whole waterwell or ground source heat pump borehole project with our own in-house team, keeping them in touch at every stage right through to completion:-

‘They have patiently guided us through every aspect from the initial drilling to the final grant application.’

Many thanks to the great team at Nicholls. A very large project converting our Grade II listed Georgian property (and pool) entirely to ground source heating. They have patiently guided us through every aspect from the initial drilling to the final grant application. Projects like this will never run entirely to plan but, thanks to the excellent customer service, it has been relatively painless. We are very happy to recommend them.

Isabel Braham, June 2017

‘We were very pleased with the high standard of service and installation.’

We put forward Nicholls Boreholes as a preferred installer for one of our clients at St George’s Hill Golf Course. We were expecting a fairly low yield with a view to install further boreholes to support storage lake.
We were very pleased with the high standard of service and installation and our client was very pleased that the borehole was much more productive than expected.
I would be pleased to recommend Nicholls Boreholes to others wishing to install a borehole system.

Roger Davey, Managing Director, Irritech Limited – June 2016

‘The whole operation was 1st class and they kept the mess to a minimum.’

Nicholls Boreholes drilled and installed a 201m water borehole, steel lined to 144 metres to provide irrigation for our sports pitches. The whole operation was 1st class and they kept the mess to a minimum. The job was completed on schedule at the same time as summer camps were being held at the school with no bother to the children. We got exactly what we paid for. I would recommend them to anyone looking to use a firm of professional drillers.

Mr Phil Cunningham, Danes School, Oxshott – March 2017

‘The experience and level of professionalism we experienced was exceptional. The team were communicative throughout and at every part of the installation we found all of their staff to work to the highest standard.’

I first contacted Nicholls Boreholes when 2 existing boreholes that were only 3 years old, were failing and causing us significant issues. (Failed pumps, sand coming into the house). We had opted for boreholes when specifying our dream house and were using them for both domestic water and also in an open loop heating system for the Ground Source Heat Pump we had installed. From the first day these original boreholes went live, we had significant issues.

In hindsight I hadn’t researched the Drilling Company suitably so it was reassuring to meet with Ben from Nicholls and be given an honest opinion of both the problems we had and also the possible solutions. After a further period allowing the first company to rectify the problems they had created, we called it a day and instructed Nicholls Boreholes to drill a new borehole for us which was the best decision I could have made.

The experience and level of professionalism we experienced was exceptional. The team were communicative throughout and at every part of the installation we found all of their staff to work to the highest standard. We now have a fantastic, well designed and installed well with a pump that is designed to the water requirements of our house and heat exchanger. It is also reliable and we are able to take out a maintenance package for the system too therefore have no hesitation in recommending Nicholls Boreholes to any prospective customer in need of a borehole.
And finally once last thought. The difference in price between the initial poorly installed system and the system installed by Nicholls Boreholes was negligible, so I wish I had done it properly the first time. A lesson learned.

Mr Neil Buckner, March 2017

‘We have been pleased to be working again with Nicholls Boreholes, another good result and we look forward to the next project.’

LGM Developments Ltd. March 2017

‘The team you sent to install our 80m steel-lined waterwell were brilliant.’

“We would like to reiterate that the team you sent to install our 80m steel-lined waterwell were brilliant. They are some of the best people we have had working here. They were really pleasant and knowledgeable and we have so enjoyed the whole experience (despite the mud and gore!)”

Mrs Janet Crame, Wraysbury, Staines February 2017

‘Working with Nicholls Boreholes on this project was a very positive experience.’

I found them to be extremely customer friendly and professional with a meticulous eye for detail. This was the first solar powered borehole pump that Nicholls had installed and a lot of research went in to deciding on the right equipment for the job. The site is isolated and is in the middle of the South Downs National Park. The borehole itself was deeper than anticipated and we also laid 4km of water pipe to supply livestock troughs, west and east of the borehole, including the Graffham Down Trust nature reserve. I would certainly recommend Nicholls to anyone thinking of installing a water borehole.

Mr Oliver Hancock, West Sussex November 2016

’22KW GSHP – WORKING BEYOND OUR EXPECTATIONS AND WOULD THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND THEM AS A COMPANY…’

I have recently had Nicholls install a huge deep bore system in my new build home to provide all hot water and heating. From the first moment I met Ben, the owner of the company, I have been impressed with their professionalism, courtesy and capabilities.  Without exception, every single member of their Team has exuded these qualities.  Now the system is in and up and running, it is working beyond our expectations and I would thoroughly recommend them as a company if you are considering using natural resources within your home or offices.

Mr Andrew Newton, Laughton, Lewes.  March 2016

‘Their professionalism throughout was brilliant and it was a joy to come across a British firm providing such a service.’

I selected Nicholls Boreholes on recommendation, but mainly because all parts of the operation were carried out by this one company. Their professionalism throughout, from the MD Ben Nicholls to every operative was brilliant and it was a joy to come across a British firm providing such a service. I highly recommend them and would be prepared to discuss my experience with any new customers.

We have employed Nicholls Boreholes on many occasions over the last 3 years to install water boreholes for us for both private and commercial installations. We have been very happy with the comprehensive service that they supply and will be using them again. I have no hesitation in recommending their services to others.

Steve Dwyer, Access Utilities, September 2015

‘Thank you for the excellent job you did drilling the borehole and installing our water supply’

I would like to thank you and your team for the excellent job you did drilling the borehole and installing our water supply. Both the drilling and installation teams were extremely professional, informative, helpful and polite.

Having our own water supply installed was, for us, a very challenging experience. Nicholls Boreholes took a lot of the worry away from us by explaining the process, keeping us informed and working through the issues quickly and calmly.

In particular I would like to thank Mark and the installation team for working long hours and going the extra mile to ensure that our new water supply was working before our existing supply was cut off. That meant a great deal to me and my family.

Nine months on and we have had no problem with our water; it is clean, bright and very tasty. I look forward to seeing you in October for our annual service.

Your team are a credit to your organisation and I would have no hesitation in recommending you to friends and family.

Mr David Brown, Cheriton, July 2015

‘One of the best Subcontractors we have ever worked with’

‘The Nicholls team were incredibly helpful and positive in their approach. Ben Nicholls picked up the project when our professional design team were unable to agree on a solution to our groundwater evacuation challenges. The pressurised soakaway solution was innovative and impressed everyone involved in the project. I cannot recommend Nicholls highly enough. One of the best Subcontractors we have ever worked with.’

Chris Moss, Project Manager, Balfour Beatty, October 2014

‘We have found them to be both experienced and helpful’

‘We have used Nicholls Boreholes on a number of projects and they have always worked well with us and other contractors on site. We have found them to be both experienced and helpful. We would hope to give them many more projects in the future and would have no hesitation in recommending them.’

Andy Auge-de-Rancourt, Managing Director of Ceecom Construction Limited, July 2014

‘Thank you to the team at Nicholls Boreholes’

‘Ben Nicholls was involved at an early stage after being recommended by our irrigation consultant. The Club was a bit nervous on undertaking works for a borehole as a similar project had failed in the past producing no water. He gave a comprehensive presentation to our Council which gave us the confidence to go forward with the project. The works were completed on time with no complications. The Club has no hesitation in recommending Nicholls.’

West Kent Golf Club, November 2013

‘very pleased with the comprehensive and professional service’

‘Nicholls Boreholes supplied and installed a ground source heat pump system with boreholes and underfloor heating for our property. We have been very pleased with the comprehensive and professional service that we have been given. The heat pump works extremely well and we would have no problem in recommending them to other customers.’

‘no hesitation in recommending them to others’

‘Nicholls Boreholes recently completed works for a ground source heat pump system, including boreholes, heat pump and underfloor heating for our project in Bosham. We found the Nicholls Boreholes team to be professional and the works were completed with minimal disruption to the site and we would have no hesitation in recommending them to others.’

A construction company for a project in Bosham, West Sussex, October 2012

‘superbly handled with absolute minimum disruption’

‘Under the direction of Ben Nicholls, Nicholls Boreholes recently completed a ground-source heat pump borehole array for ISO Energy for a project in London. Site access was difficult and close liaison with the main contractor was required to ensure smooth programming. Despite precautionary desktop research from the British Geological Survey, the geology proved to be very challenging, requiring a change to the borehole array specification whilst the works were in progress. Ben ensured that all these complications were superbly handled with absolute minimum disruption to the site so that the final outcome for our client could be assured. We use Nicholls Drilling services on a regular basis to provide borehole arrays for ground-source projects across a very wide range of capacity scales and would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them to others.’

‘The whole operation was very professional’

‘Nicholls Boreholes drilled and installed two 100m vertical ground loops for my Ground Source Heat Pump. The operation was very slick and completed in a few days, the team and equipment arrived on site and just seemed to get on with it. Given we were in the middle of a larger project they didn’t interfere with any of the building or landscaping work that was going on, which was excellent. The whole operation was very professional and they kept the mess to a minimum providing information throughout the process which was fascinating. I would recommend them to anyone looking to use a firm of professional drillers.’

A domestic client, Alfold, Surrey, February 2011

‘totally informative and honest’

‘As a recent client of Nicholls Boreholes I have been asked to write a short reference of my experiences for potential use with new customers.

I am not connected with Nicholls in any other way other than employing them to drill three boreholes, 2 for ground source heat pump induction loop and 1 for water.
I am in the process of building a 3000 sq foot new build property in Kent, this is an extremely contemporary property within a conservation area. Ground source heat pump, PV and solar panels didn’t form part of my original planning application, although rain and grey water recovery did). As the build progressed I started investing renewal energy. I decided that to ‘future proof’ my investment I would include these into the build. I soon discovered there are a lot of companies (google search will list pages of green energy companies) professing to be experts within the field of renewal energies. I exchanged emails and had conversations with many before short listing to 3, including Nicholls.

To cut a long story short I selected Nicholls because, from the very first email I sent making enquiries they were totally informative and honest, giving a ‘warts and all’ summary of what was involved. I can categorically state that without doubt if Nicholls hadn’t advised me of the pit falls and what was required I would have ended up spending far more money than I did. When Nicholls were on site they encountered some geographic issues which resulted in one bore hole being plugged (at 97m) and a new one started. Nicholls quoted for the job (2 x boreholes, each 100m) and got on with the job of re drilling without approaching me for more funds. The project was completed, 3 days over schedule and site was left in clean and tidy manner. All I came into contact with, owners, managers and rig operators are true professionals, diligent with a real pioneering spirit.’

A happy client, Sittingbourne, Kent, May 2011

‘double the amount of water we initially hoped for’

‘Nicholls boreholes did a great job installing a water well for us under very difficult conditions. They drilled a 10 inch well to 85 meters in the pouring rain. The borehole is now producing double the amount of water we initially hoped for! Nicholls boreholes is a great company and would definitely recommend to other customers.’

A coment from a happy client at a site near Chichester, West Sussex, May 2010

‘They said what they were going to do, and then got it done.’

‘In a business where nothing can be quite fully guaranteed I most appreciated Nicholls ‘can do’ and problem solving approach.  Everybody at Nicholls was extremely helpful and professional.  They said what they were going to do, and then got it done.  I have enjoyed working with them all.’

A client in West Sussex, waterwell borehole September 2010

‘on schedule and cost’

‘Nicholls Boreholes have recently completed a Geothermal project in Putney, London SW15 for us where they installed 5 x 100 metre boreholes with all header works with extremely awkward and difficult site access. Nicholls Boreholes gave a professional and efficient service completing their scope of works on schedule and cost. I would be happy to recommend them to other companies undertaking this type of project.’
