Mansell Balfour Beatty asked Nicholls Boreholes to install 2 deep bore soakaways for a new breast clinic at Worthing Hospital to take surface water drainage as there was no option to connect into the mains drainage in the road.
We had a particular problem at this site due to the geology and the water would only soak into the chalk at approximately 25m below ground level, below a clay cap. The natural artesian pressure of water in the chalk meant that a unique pressurised soakaway system had to be developed to force surface water into the ground. This system, designed by Nicholls Boreholes, has been extremely successful for the clinic.
Nicholls Boreholes have previously worked with Mansell Balfour Beatty on several projects supplying Gas Absorption Ground Source Heat Pumps, boreholes and soakaways.
The Nicholls team were incredibly helpful and positive in their approach. Ben Nicholls picked up the project when our professional design team were unable to agree on a solution to our groundwater evacuation challenges. The pressurised soakaway solution was innovative and impressed everyone involved in the project. I cannot recommend Nicholls highly enough. One of the best Subcontractors we have ever worked with.
