Thomas Sinden, a building contractor based North of London, asked Nicholls Boreholes to supply and install a ground source heat pump system (GSHP) with boreholes for their project at Brandlehow Primary School in Putney.

We drilled and installed 4 boreholes all to a depth of 120 metres, using one of our experienced drilling teams. The ground conditions were London clay through to Thanet sand and then chalk with flints. Our specialised equipment has been specifically designed for this type of geology.

After successfully installing the boreholes probes and grouting them in with a thermally enhanced grout we completed the headerworks using a purpose built manifold and chamber. All of the pipework was fusion welded, pressure and flow tested.

We then installed and commissioned a 15kW NIBE ground source heat pump system.

This ground source heat pump was to provide heating for the school. Also by providing a maintenance contract to all our clients, if required, Nicholls Boreholes continues to support our clients beyond the initial installation of the ground source heat pump.
