Channel 4’s Grand Design RIBA House of the Year shortlist included one of Nicholls Boreholes’ projects – Levring House in Bloomsbury, London WC1. This ground source heat pump (GSHP’s) project involved drilling and installing 5 heat pump system boreholes, 8 metres apart to depths of 195 metres. Award winning architect, Mary Duggan, one of the judges for the award, expressed her amazement to the property owners at this depth saying “that is almost twice the height of Big Ben”. The drilling of the GSHP boreholes was successfully completed using one of our Massenza M15 Drill Rigs.
We also fitted a Nibe F1345 40kw Ground Source Heat Pump System (GSHP) to provide heating and hot water to the entire building, supporting this with the addition of a solar thermal system. The GSHP not only heated and supplied hot water for the entire property but also heated the luxury 14 metre basement marble lined swimming pool. See case study>
