Nicholls Boreholes were chosen by Wrotham Heath Golf Club to supply and install a 60 metre water borehole and irrigation system for their greens, which are played on throughout the year.
Irrigation is a big issue for golf and leisure clubs with facilities that need to be in peak playing condition throughout the year. Not only is water a significant cost, but hosepipe bans can make it impossible to maintain greens during summer droughts. Water boreholes not only give the club their own independent supply of readily available water all year round but can save up to 30% on annual costs.
Within the plant room (pictured) we installed particle filters and a U.V. with an electronic batch counter set to 20 mᶟ/day. This kept the club’s water consumption within their limit permitted before an abstraction licence is required. The water supply is collected in a 336 mᶟ water storage tank (also pictured) situated next to the plant room.
As part of our commitment to customer service, Nicholls Boreholes also provide an annual maintenance service to the golf club for their complete peace of mind. This means regular inspections that the water collection and irrigation system are working efficiently and a customer service team on call if there should be any concerns.
Wrotham Heath Golf Club are delighted with their new water borehole green irrigation system. They told us “On the recommendation of our consultants Irritech Ltd we approached Nicholls Boreholes. From the initial meeting with Ben Nicholls to the completion of the project (which included the use of a Water Diviner) the whole operation was carried out very professionally. We have every confidence in recommending Nicholls Boreholes to future users.”
