  • Untreated irrigation water

Objective

The club wanted to move away from costly mains water and ensure a plentiful supply of water to cover their irrigation needs both short and long term.  To ensure that the course looks and plays as good as it can.

About the project

Nicholls worked closely with the club and the Environment Agency to install an appropriately designed water borehole system for irrigation.  It was imperative that the design of the borehole worked with the specific requirements of the Environment Agency, only targeting the water from a specific aquifer.

The Nicholls Licensing Team undertook all of the necessary permitting works on behalf of the club with the Environment Agency and the Nicholls Service and Maintenance Department will continue to support the club into the future.

“The golf course is sited on a Site of Special Scientific Interest which added an unusual level of complexity to the licence application process. The Licensing Team at Nicholls provided the consultation and expertise to negotiate with the Envirronment Agency to obtain a water Abstraction Licence on our behalf. The Licensing team at Nicholls worked through all the complex stages required to satisfy the Environment Agency that the borehole and abstraction were fit for purpose and sustainable. This has dramatically reduced our mains water bill and leaves Reigate Heath safe in the knowledge that we have our own in-house water supply.
The knowledge of all the staff at Nicholls has been impressive. The customer care and service have been outstanding, and I would not hesitate to recommend the team.”
