What is a Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) and its benefits?

Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHPs) provide energy for heating and hot water by using stored solar energy from under the ground or an open water source – a completely free and renewable source of energy. These types of systems offer many attractive benefits. They have low maintenance costs, can save significant money on fuel bills and can add value to your property. In addition, they have virtually no environmental impact and are compatible with most modern heating systems – they are particularly suitable for underfloor heating and the heat pump system can be designed to be used to cool your property in summer and provide heating for swimming pools.

Nicholls Boreholes & Ground Source can do everything from the design through to system maintenance, using our own in-house professionals. We can help you install either a commercial or a domestic ground source heat pump, check every aspect of your GSHP system, take care of all the relevant paperwork and offer you an annual service agreement.

As a MCS approved installer for more than 10 years, domestic clients could benefit from the BUS (Boiler Upgrade Scheme) which offers an incentive for the upgrade of existing systems or self build properties.  This incentive increased from £6,000 to £7,500 effective from Monday, 23rd October, 2023.
