Lead Rotary Driller
Experienced rotary driller to lead deep borehole projects for water supply and ground source heat pump installations.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Rotary Driller to take charge of our deep borehole drilling operations. You will lead a team on complex rotary drilling projects including water supply boreholes (up to 300m+) and ground source heat pump installations.
Responsibilities:
- Operating and maintaining rotary drilling rigs (direct and reverse circulation)
- Planning and executing drilling programmes
- Managing on-site teams of 2-3 operatives
- Geological logging and real-time formation assessment
- Casing installation, grouting, and well development
- Client liaison and site management
- Compliance with EA abstraction licence conditions
- Health & safety leadership on site
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years rotary drilling experience
- Proven track record of leading deep borehole projects
- CSCS card and relevant NVQs
- Full clean UK driving licence (C+E essential)
- Strong understanding of UK geology and hydrogeology
- Experience with mud flush and air flush techniques
- Competent with well design and completion methods
- First Aid at Work certification (or willingness to obtain)
