Drilling geothermal boreholes for Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHPs) is a core service at Nicholls Boreholes and we offer a complete geothermal energy service. Geothermal borehole technology offers important benefits compared with geothermal GSHPs using horizontal or trench technology. There is a time saving: a field needs 12 months or so to recover from the installation of a geothermal horizontal trench/collector.
The footprint is also greatly reduced because, with a geothermal borehole, the collector for your ground source heat pump can be sited under a track, yard, building or other solid surface. But perhaps most important of all, with geothermal borehole energy, the GSHP heat delivery is not affected by seasonal changes in temperature. Geothermal boreholes, as opposed to horizontal collectors, are also extremely efficient when it comes to powering building cooling systems, whether passive or active.
Nicholls Boreholes is one of the most experienced installers of geothermal GSHP (Ground Source Heat Pump) boreholes in the UK and we provide a complete geothermal energy service, undertaken and completed by our own in-house staff. We manage every stage from a detailed site survey and written quotation to the geothermal system connection, rigorous system testing and paperwork. As approved geothermal energy system suppliers we can also advise and process applications for Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) funding and the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).
